Yes 1 day left ... Last post of my 20s ... After 30 days, 30 shot glasses, and 30 stories about me, the places I've been, and the people I have seen, we get to the most important shot glass, from my motherland Armenia!!!!

From a country where I should belong and be counted as an Armenian! For next year, my goal is to apply for Armenian citizenship and get my passport! I want to be counted as an Armenian, and prove to Turks, that they failed in trying to ease my race, because I am here now! Blogging about my shot glasses, in a free country that lets me be who I am! And that is an Armenian!

I got this shot glass in December of 2008, and I actually got this with my friend (RIP) by my side, so I cannot tell you how much I love and care about this little shot glass, which is not really a glass and is made out of clay ... Showing that what a simple yet cultured country Armenia is!

Ok this is it ... tomorrow is the last day of my 20s ... and I just realized for someone who is turning 30 in two days, I give too much damn!!!! Haha ... Well, not exactly about the bday, but about the other minor everyday drama, that I should not be caring about now! ... so here we are with the Shot Glass from Jamaica!!!! Ya Man!!!! This was the best shot for today ... reminded me of the craziness out there, and that I should keep my cool and just chill ...

Usually when people turn 30, they start quoting about turning 30 .... I am gonna do something a little better .... these are quotes for men who are scared of girls over 30!!!!...

A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.
If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it'susually something more interesting.

Ok I'll be honest, today I actually had to push myself to take the shot ... To a point that I'm totally ready to turn 30, to just end this take a shot everyday promise that I made to myself to end!!!!! LoL ... Seriously, I think I've found the solution to people just accept their 30th bday .... Just drink it away :) . ... But seriously, 3 day is nothing!!!! Two more shots and I'll be 30!!! .... Buy also, this means that I won't make it to cover all of my shot glasses ... Maybe I'll just continue after my BDay too, jut to make sure every shot glass gets a chance to be presented on my glorious blog :D

Ok, so here we are with this cute shot glass from Australia ... I actually like Aussies ... In my experience, they have been very nice and easy to talk to ... I they have good stake ... And they have kangaroos!!!! :) ahhhhhhh that reminded me of Skippy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if you guys watched Skippy in US or not, but that was an awesome show growing up in Iran!!! Ahhh :) I missed it ... Ok cheers to Australia and Skippy for making my childhood more fun and memorable!

4 little days left :) ... Last Sunday of my 20s! ... today's picture had a mini cake in the background, cause today is my mom's Birthday!!!!!! Happy Birthday mama jan!!!!! Of course like any other Mother-Daughter relationship, ours is a pretty complex one too ... but everyone says that I look so much like my mom, and I even had strangers walk up to me and ask me if I'm Roza's daughter, and actually I got this question from someone that I had never met, who went to school with my mom, like 50 years ago!!!!!!! ... so yes, I am definitely carbon copy of my mom, but our personalities are complete and total opposites ... however, I think after 30 years, we have kinda defined what our relationship is going to be like ...

Also, we are both Sagittarius, so we know that we are not the kind of a woman who will always say what you want to hear, and go directly to the point that we want to make and make open and flat statements and ask embarrassing questions in front of others ... I know everyone says this, but now that I'm almost in my 30s, I actually notice it ... mother's are daughter's friends ... we have our differences, but since you dont pick your family, you learn to deal with the differences ... Just like any relationship you have to find what you have in common and dont try to change each other ... also, since I am so similar to my mom, we have this little click ... and there is no way we can hide anything from each other ... it is not about keeping secrets or anything, but if she starts a sentence a certain way, I can read the full paragraph and know exactly what is she trying to say ... and same goes the other way too ... she always knows ... so I've always been open with her, I have no secret from her ... there is no point to keep secrets, because she always knows ...

We are both kinda in love with life and we are all about living it to its fullest and enjoying it thoroughly, but only the way we want to live it ... we dont really like people telling us what to do, and specially what not to do! .... which to some people, might come as annoying, but we dont care .... cause nothing stops us from living our life the way we want it to ... we dont lose faith in future, even if we had a few hard knock downs by life. I learned from my mom to be optimistic and to never EVER give up on anything to stop trying ... My mom's number one advice always has been to never stop trying ... Just keep pushing until you get what ever it is that you want ... There is no "I can't" ... you can do whatever you want if just keep pushing for it ... You should see her when she goes for a job interview ... people usually think that I am a very confident person, but honestly, I wish to someday have the confidence that my mom has ... It is incredible!!! ... So cheers to mom :) may they always remember that they used to be a silly girl once too ...

Oh and the shot glass above is from September 2010, when I was "Bustin Out In Canada" and went hiking in Banff and by Lake Louise with my friend Nazely and her Husband Kyle ... which I totally just remembered that her Birthday was two days ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oops! Ok I'll call her tomorrow .... Soooo many December Birthdays, and no facebook account to remind me of the Birthdays :) ... So here is a picture of us from last year's trip :) so Cheers to Canada too!!!

I know there is no excuse for missing the posting on time, but I cannot remember how the day flew by yesterday ... I am one of those that work doesnt end at 5pm Friday and restarts at 8am Monday ... being part of the Infrastructure Support team is kinda 24x7, but we tell people that we are not 24x7, so they dont bug us so much :) ... but the fact is that it never stops ... ok so yesterday I basically worked all morning, then in the afternoon had to take care of some of the holiday and bday shopping, and come back to only find out that the morning issues never went away ... oh well ... still not an excuse for missing the shot post :) ...

Anyways, last night was another awesome friend of mine, Teny's 30th Bday ... Yay! Teny and I are the youngest of our classmates and are a week apart ... so when we celebrate her 30th, I know my number is coming up too ... not that I need additional reminders after bloggin about it for 25 days already! ... haha .. so after the work craziness ended yesterday, I had over to Teny's house for her Bday celebration and just combining the two tasks and using her bday for my shot taking excuse ... haha ... so let me introduce you to more people ...

From right to left ... first one is yours truly, then Natalie, the blonde one is Teny, and then of course my lovely sister ... So as I already introduced Teny to you at an earlier post ... and when we say Teny, Natalie comes with it ... when you say I'm going to Teny's house, we say we are going to Natalie-Teny's Teny's house :) ... I've known Teny and Natalie since 2nd grade, but Teny and Natalie have probably been friends since birth! ... Last night was fun .... Its always fun to get together with old friends and celebrate major milestones together :) ... which brings me to the next picture ... I know to some of you I'm the only Talin that you know ... but the reality is that Talin is probably the most common name for Armenian girls my age who were born in Iran ... so when there is any sort of an event, chances are there will be many many girls named Talin ... so guess who are the ladies in the picture below? ... some of the Talin's from last night ... there were more Talin's last night, but these are my favorites ... and I think blue was the theme for last night :)

Right to left ... yours truly in blue, second right Talin Kh, growing up her house was a block away from my house and we would walk to school together from 2nd grade to high school ... 3rd from Right is Talin S, Bday girl Teny's sister, she was older than us and of course got her driver's license way before us and Teny would always call her to come give us a ride ... last one and first from left is Talin B.P ... smartest and nicest Talin I've ever met, and she just passed the first exam for NAPLEX and is on her way to become a Pharmacist ... we actually went to kindergarten and first grade together, but then I moved to different school for 2nd grade, and we were reunited again in High School ... Couple of weeks ago was this Talin's Bday too ... so one by one, we are celebrating our major milestones ;) ... ahhh life is funny and very interesting, but actually, the people are the ones that make life interesting ... life goes on and doesn't wait for anyone, but the only thing that matters are the people and how they decide to keep the relationship ...

So you see why I didn't have time to post this blog last night? ... cause apparently its one of those days that I'm really chatty and have so much to say ... haha ok, I'll stop now, because the Sunday Blog is coming next ...

Yes, Asia week continues, but I'm totally out of shot glasses from Asia :( ... but I have these Sake Glass from Northridge, CA!!!! ... LoL ... so last year, when I was still a grad student at CSUN, we were studying at an Starbucks near school ... It was Amin, Halil, Sasan, Sara, and me .... we were totally off off, and were not making any progress, so they boys sent us to go get lunch (because its the girls duty to prepare lunch) ... so we went to this Korean Mega store that was next to our Starbucks, called the Galleria Market, and ended up buying facial mask, set of 5 chopsticks, and this Sake/Shot glass ... so yeah leave it to us to go find food for men! ... :) So when I first started this post today, I was going to make it to the memory of the CSUN days ... which I still am, but actually after work, I had something else to be thankful for ...

Shots with the ladies who make the entertainment business fun!!! .. haha ... well, they make it fun for me :) ... today was our last happy hour of 2011 ... I met these ladies thru Disney ... About 4 of years ago, for a brief period, we tried to create the Armenians of Disney Group ... The organization idea died after two meetings ... Shocking!!! LoL ... no but seriously, Armenian Organizations are usually created for one purpose, to find your Armenian Husband or Wife ... so it just didn't work for us, but I took away two good friends ... the two wonderful sisters, Arevik and Mar two of the funnest people you will ever meet!!! So, we decided to start our own side "Happy Hour Sessions" with couple of other ladies that we met thru the organization and Disney ... we keep our group simple and small, and have had to "veto" couple of girls from our happy hours, since they just didn't click with the rest ...

Let me introduce you the ladies .... here we are (at the above picture) taking lemon drop shots ... and cheering ... from right lovely Armine, who used to work for Disney, but she has been calling Warner Bros. home for couple of years now. Next is yours truly ... gnore the exhausted face, usually this is the best my face looks on Fridays after work ... the middle lady is Arevik Jan, who used to work across the street from me, but by the time I got to know her, she moved to the Glendale office ... I think that she is the glue that keeps me connected to the group ... so I heart you Arev jan!!!! Next in glasses is Mar, another member of the Magic of Disney :) :) our little smart fashionista with an awesome style!!! ... You should read her blog for the BEST fashion and beauty advice!!!! She also keeps the Happy Hours happening and is always recruiting new members for our little group :) ... which brings me to the last lady, who is our newest member ... Christina ... Honestly, today was our first time meeting, but I sense that she is gonna become a regular member, and will not be Vetoed like some others in the past :) ... so just wanted to thank these ladies, for keeping the Disney Experience fun for me ... You guys are awesome, so cheers to many more happy hours in the future ... no matter where we work at :)

Haha ... One week left!!!!!! :) :) :) and its December already!!! ... so I was thinking, I can use this shot glass to cover both Korea and Japan, since I don't have enough shot glasses to cover a full week for Asia ... oh well, maybe I'll try and finish the week with some of my other "Island" shot glasses ... but get a hold of this awesome shot glass!!! It is my oldest one, from 2002 World Cup ... how sweet is that? ... and how sad that 2002 was almost a decade ago!!!! What is going on in the universe? Why are the days and years just rushing to finish? ... I guess there is an end for everything ...

Anyways, I actually have a quote for today ... it has nothing to do with the shot glass, but it is relevant to something that someone told me today ... “We are drawn to each other because of our similarities, but it is our differences we must learn to respect.”

I have heard so many good things about Indonesia ... our friend Caryn had two weddings, one was in Laguna and the other was in Indonesia ... although the wedding here was one of the best wedding's I've ever gone to, I always wished that I had gone to the her second wedding in Indonesia too ... oh well ... here is to Carla and Caryn ... my awesome twins from Indonesia :) who were brought to my life thru UCI and SWE ... I'm so blessed for having you girls in my life ... Cheers to you two!

W00T! W00T! .... 9 days left!!! I am actually happy that I don't have to take a shot everyday after I turn 30!!! LoL ... Seriously, I'm probably not gonna have a drink for my actual Birthday! ... I guess my liver is trying to remind me that its not getting any younger! ... haha ok ok ... I guess its not that bad :) only 9 more days! ... anyways ... Asia week continues with this Hard Rock Cafe Shot glass from Makati, Philippines ... ... and no, sadly I didn't personally get this shot glass, I got it from one of our SVPs, he saw my shot glass collections and brought me many great shot glasses that he had collected from different trips that he had taken. I really think it is time that I explore Far East ... According to my friend Myn, Island hopping in Philippines is one of the funnest trips that a person can take, and it is supposed to be pretty cheap too ... so we'll see ... planning for future is what makes life fun and interesting ... What the Hell!??? ... Starting tomorrow, I'll be in single digits until the big three zero? ... But I'm seriously still not panicking ... for those of you who don't know ... I have 2 birthdays ... December 8th is the real deal, but when I was born my parents made the decision to change my birthday on my birth certificate to September 18th ... 3 days before the cutoff point to be qualified to go to school with other kids my age ... yup ... so normally people change their birthday to be younger, my parents made me older, so they could send me off to school one year earlier ... so I was always the youngest one of my class :) ... long story short, I have been trained to go thru the Birthday emotions on September 18th (my fake BDay), so come December 8th, I'm ready to take on whatever age I'm turning that year ... so I have nothing to lose here, I've legally been checking the 30 to 35 box on the forms and applications for 3 months now already .... but I have just not really accepted it, or told people that I'm 30, because I'm not 30 yet! I have 10 days to go :) ...

Ok back to the shot glasses ... since we had Europe week last week, I'm gonna try and have an Asia week ... Starting with China and my Chinese Dragon Shot Glass ... what better symbol than the dragon .... 2012 is going to be the year of Dragon, and I'll be 30 during 2012! ... no need to say that Dragons are pretty special and signify a powerful almighty king! They are strong and wise and it symbolizes all the best of the best in everything!!! In all honestly, I think what this means is that China is gonna take over the world in 2012 ... but hey, who am I to fight against my future masters ... so cheers to 2012, China, and the Dragons everywhere!

We are almost there .. and I have to say, I have no plans for the big three zero ... Everyone is starting to ask me if I'm planning anything, but honestly, December is not the best month of the year to plan a party, for starters. we are competing with Jesus' Bday and other Holiday celebrations ... also, there are waaaaaaaaaaaay too many December babies, including many of my friends, who are also turning 30 this year, and my mother and brother ... whenever I plan something it interferes' with someone else's bday and we either have to share parties, or guests are forced to split over the two parties ... On top of all that, we have another major event this year ... my best friend's baby is due on December 11th, couple of days after my Bday, and she is pretty big already, so we dont know exactly when the big day will be for them :) ... so planning a Bday this year is tricky ... but not to worry ... I'd rather have a healthy and great life rather than one night of fun and planning a stressful party, so whatever happens happens, but I am not planning anything yet ...

So back to the shot glasses, and covering 30 years of my life in 30 days ... So here we are .. Shot Glass Number 19 from Switzerland ... The most neutral country, pretty good banking system, Swiss Army Knife ... Lots of snow, mountains, fresh air ... and of course cows and milk, and cheese, and chocolate!!!!!! .... Toblerone chocolate!!!!!! ... :) So here is to Switzerland, where I see a trip to in the next 6 months, since my friend is gonna do a study abroad there for her last semester of grad school ... :) So Cheers!

Ok Ok ... I missed the post for the actually 11/26 ... I was at Disneyland all day today, and all the batteries (including our own energy) was dying ... so couldn't post this by phone and by the time I got home, well its now ... I always go to Disneyland for the Thanksgiving weekend ... all the Christmas decorations are up already, my pass is not blocked, my friends are visiting home and are in LA, so there is always someone to take, and the park is not really that crowded ... anyways ... I've had this Minnie (and its partner Micky) shot glass for couple of years now ... and yes Minnie is my favorite Disney Character ... my favorite Disney movie of all time is Cinderella, but my favorite princess is Belle, cause she is brunette, likes to read, falls in love with a hairy beast, and is French! :) ... so 12 days left and I'm dedicating my post to Disneyland!!! Truly, the happiest place on Earth, where for at least a day, you really believe in magic and happy ever after ... so cheers to someday ...

I feel like this should be a "13 going on 30" type of post ... but wont .... Happy Day after Thanksgiving everyone! ... So today we had breakfast at one of our friend's house, Anna and Raz, and we ate and ate and ate from 11am until 4pm ... as if the dinner last night wasn't enough ... and of course, these days I dont travel anywhere without a spare shot glass in my purse :) ... So Europe week continues with yet another beautiful shot glass from Vienna/Wien, Austria ... This shot glass reminds me of "The Sound of Music" ... I have probably seen that movie hundreds of times, and the funny thing is that we had a dubbed version of the movie, and it was dubbed to Farsi, and seriously it was better than the original English version!!! They had actually changed the name of the movie to "Tears and Smiles" because it sounds better when you say it in Farsi ... They even dubbed and sang the songs in Farsi ... so we grew up singing the songs in Farsi, and yes I used to know how to sing "Do Re Mi Fa" in Farsi ... Yet another fun fun memory, came alive by a little shot glass ... Cheers!

ParisJe T'Aime ... I really, really, really Je T'Aime!!!!! Not only one of myfavorite movies, but how I truly feel about Paris and France! ... IfI believed in reincarnation, I would wish and pray to come backas a Parisian! ... I love their food, bread, cheese, wine, fashion; I wish todie wearing Chanel from head to toe, with my Chanel bag, and wearing my CocoMademoiselle perfume! ... I love Netflix for having such a greatcollection of French Movies on instant view! ... But I love France for morethan these ... I LOVE their attitude! I love that they don't care about whatanyone thinks of them! I love that they have their own opinion and they standby it! ...

Ontop of all these, there is another major reason why I love and respect Franceand French people. After the Armenian Genocide of 1915, France wasone of the only countries that accepted and took on majority of the ArmenianOrphans and immigrants and gave them home ... and in the past century they haveallowed for Armenians to grow and build a strong community in France ... Francewas also one of the first countries that recognized the Armenian Genocide bythe Ottoman Empire, and they have also urged others (including Turkey) torecognize and accept it!

Igot this gorgeous shot glass when I visited Paris this past summer in August ... It isbeautiful and elegant like everything else in Paris ... It was agorgeous stay and enjoyed every second of it ... It was actually one of mygoals to go to Paris before I turned 30, and I was able to cross it off of mybucket list :) ... I know its Thanksgiving, and maybe I should've selected amore Pilgrim or Indian related shot glass, (and I know this mightsound odd) but I am really thankful for France, and for making this universe amore interesting place to live in! .... and this is Europe week :)... so cheers and santé to France!

Get a hold of this!!!! My jewel shot glass from the smallest country in the world! Vaticano!!!! I mean seriously, the only country that I never thought would produce and put their arm on a shot glass, but I bet they used it for holly water ... anyways .... its actually a very good shot glass, perfect size and I like the gold trim around the glass too ... I am definitely not going to make this a religious post, and I hope I don't get burned for this ... but for 30 years I had followed only one God, not some person dresses in white that travels in a clear boxed car, or the virgin mother of Jesus ... and I really don't care to know "what if Jesus really is Lord"... but overall, I accept that humans need religion to keep their community and culture ... even cavemen had something to worship and they built their communities around that belief that if they gathered together, they would be safe from the unknown danger and evil ... later when communities got bigger and bigger, they always had a religious or prayer center (which was usually the school too), a medical center, and some sort of court or government house ... over the years, the same students who went to school in the churches and were actually planning on becoming a priest someday, learned of science and mathematics ... and the Christian Church actually gave us scientists like Galileo, Pascal, Boyle, and of course Newton ... So to some up, yes, I believe in God, but I also believe in science and evolution ... ok I have to post this before the day is over ... so cheers to the city that brought us Angels & Demons!

I think I should still have enough shot glasses to get thru Europe ... Ok so here is to Italy ... My least favorite European Country ... I love Italians, I love their food, and I love their shoes, but honestly I just never cared about visiting Italy ... Oh well, cheers to Italy, without which, we would've never had the Jersey Shore or wasted so many hours waiting for a creature called Snooki to do tricks and entertain us! :)

So I'm dedicating today's drink to these ladies ... I know I said I'll take 30 shots during these 30 days, but Baileys with Ladies was the drink of choice this morning ... To my right, and the second lady from left, is Teny ... I've known Teny since elementary school which continued to High school ... we had really fun times in High School, we were both A students, but would get in so many stupid troubles ... like we got expelled from High School for one day, because we decided to skip the first period and come to school late!!! ... or when we decided that the Physics teacher was unfair and we turned everyone against her, and we had a strike and no one took the physics exam that year ... so she quit! ... haha ... fun times ... 3rd from right is Ramela, she was Teny's classmatte in high school for Junior Year, when we weren't in the same class ... Iran's Classroom separations system was weird ... you would be assigned to a class with 25-30 others, and all of you would have to take the same courses for the rest of the year together, and you have the same classroom, but the teachers would swap between periods ... Last one is Celine ... she is drinking tea, because she has 5 months old twin girls waiting for her at home :) .... I've been friends with Celine since elementary school too, and besides classmates, we were in the same basketball team too ... as I mentioned on one of my previous posts my friends from basketball were something else ... and as I said before, I would've been a totally different person, if it wasn't for my friends ... So cheers to more friends, who made my first 30 days of my life, even more interesting!

What is life without friends? Seriously!? We don't need apsychiatric therapist as much as we need a friend to be silly with ... and ofcourse its cheaper than therapy ... Andthese 4 ladies, have been my therapists for years now ... We are not thetypical childish BFFs that have to share everything together and start stupiddrama, we actually can go months and not see each other, and everyone does herthing, but we always know what everyone else is up to ... The interesting thingis that we are all totally different people, but we all share the same sense ofhumor.

First to the right is Vaneh, my 3rd cousin .... Our grandfatherswere first cousins, so I think that makes us 3rd cousins, but she hasdefinitely been more of a friend than a cousin ... She is one of the funnestpeople to hangout with ... we have had some crazy adventures together ... likejust driving to Palm Springs late at night, partying, then not having a placeto stay, so we had to spent the night in our car parked in a shopping center... or the time we were at a friends' BDay and the party got boring, so wedecided to go crash a wedding that was happening next door ... We danced andate good food and took a picture with the bride!!! It was just something else... But there is never a dull moment with Vaneh.

Hagint is the second one to the right, Hagint is a yearyounger than me she went to High School with my sister and we ended up becomingclassmates at GCC and survive the Math and Physics courses together, which camewith its own adventures ... Like bribing one of the boys in the C/C++ class tofinish our code, with the promise of getting him an In N Out burger later ...After GCC we became roommates at UCI, and shared a room for 2 years, and thatjust needs a posting on its own, no way to cover here ... She was also the onethat motivated me to go for my masters degree at CSUN for EngineeringManagement, which I would've never ever thought of doing, if it wasn't for her... She is now married and lives a block from my house and is 8 monthspregnant!!!! ... Dont worry, her shot was water ;) ... She is definitely themother of the group ... and I mean it in the best sense possible, she alwayswants the best for everyone and takes care of us, guides us and gives uspointers about life ... she is the nicest person in the world, and I am just soso so so sooooo lucky to have her in my life!!!!

The middle young lady is my sister Naeiri ... She is mysister by blood, but best friend by heart!!!! She is the only person in thisworld that I trust and I'll do anything for her ... Our whole life we haveprotected each other and have always had each other's back ... we fight likecrazy, but I'm the only one who is allowed to fight with her :) If you touchher or say something lightly uncool, I'll come after you!!!!! ... She is ourArchitect, that tells you how awesome she is ... She is the smartest and mostbright person you will ever meet, she can keep up a conversation about art,fashion, politics, economy, cars, sports, and anything else you can think of... and of course, she is my personal shopper and stylist :) ... Hate to sayit, but we are the sisters that all the other sisters wish to be! :)

I'll skip myself ... for those of you who don't know me, I'mthe 4th one from right ... and I tend to talk a lot :)

Then we get to Meghedi ...The tallest girl I know, with thecraziest hair! ... She is Hagint's younger sister, and the reason we met wasbecause 12 years ago my sister said "you have to meet these two sistersfrom my school, they have the most amazing hair!" ... LoL ... She is alsoa fellow engineer ... Got her Masters' in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD, andis now 3rd year PHD student at UCLA, researching in Biomedical Engineering ...Meghedi and I kinda travel on the same wavelength ... haha :) ... We alwaysmake fun of others and tell them we are on XM, while they are stuck on AM radio... we both have similar awkward moments in life and usually dont think toomuch about it, or stress too much about life ... Life is definitely easier whenshe is around!

They came over this morning for coffee, and of course theyknow about my 30 Shots Before 30 deal, so I decided to dedicate today's shot tothem ... These 4 ladies, know EVERYTHING about me ... They know what cheers meup and what brings me down, they know my weaknesses, they know my family, theyknow my favorite music, my style ... these are the ladies that all it takes isan eye contact, and they know what's going on in my head ... Real friend is the person who knows all aboutyou, and still likes you :) and I can only hope that these 4 ladies willcontinue liking me for the rest of my life ... This one is for Vaneh, Hagint,Naeiri, and Meghedi .... Cheers to you ladies!!!!

So ... I'm at the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America's (AESA) 28th Anniversary Banquet Tonight...but came prepared with my shot glass from Harvard ... Which I got back in April of 2010, when visiting our dear friend Maria Jan ... I figured it will go well with the nerdy theme ... honestly, I should've grabbed my MIT shot glass ... but maybe there will be another opportunity for that ... I've been a member of AESA for 4 years now ... Was the secretary for 2 years and religiously support and promote our annual Science Olympiad Competition! It is one of the oldest an most beneficial Armenian Organizations in Los Angeles, that promotes Science and Engineering in the Armenian Community ...

You probably cant see it very well, but the centerpiece in the back says 12 Mg 24.305 :) representing magnesium on table 12!!! So cheers to Science and Engineering!!!! Specially Electrical Engineers :) ... I know! I know I don't really do engineering work now ... but I tell people I'm an non-practicing Electrical Engineer, who is stuck at IT world now ... anyways ... we'll say IT is the Science part of the mix ... anyways ... cheers!

Yes ... Chicago Bulls ... Got this in July of 2009 from Chicago ... Of course I was going to post a basketball related shot glass ... Basketball has been a big part of my life for 30 years now ... If it wasn't for basketball, I wouldn't have been the person that I am now ... Growing up basketball was my life ... I lived for the Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday Training after school in Ararat in Tehran ... and the funny thing was that I wasn't really the best player on the team ... but all of my best friends were my teammates, we are all over the globe now, some are still in Iran, some are here, and we lost my best friend and our point guard ... but the bond that we had was something else ... ah the basketball boys ... the coaches, Juliet and Clarice ... and we all remember the basketball camps!!! ... the best camp was when we went to Gardabad summer of 1995, Gardabad was seriously nothing more than a village, but the cool thing was that we were 14 years old, there was 7 of us and we didn't have a supervisor for us girls ... even our coach didn't come, and one of the older boys would stand as our coach ... so it was just us 7 girls, and boy's soccer and basketball team ... Fun times ... It was just something else

... and back in 90's when Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan were what kept us excited and and made us want to stay in this sport ... My favorite poster was Michael Jordan Wings Poster ... Michael Jordan even made playing golf cool!!! ... I mean seriously, Space Jam!!!!! Wow I loved that movie!!!! That even put R. Kelly back on the map ... haha I just remembered how we really wanted to buy red jerseys for our team, so we could be like the Bulls, and it was not easy (try impossible) to buy basketball jerseys for girls in Iran, so we looked everywhere around downtown Tehran (where no 16 year old girl should go) and ended up ordering boy jerseys and had to make some alterations to the shorts!!! haha ...

Jordan, and Bulls were something else in the 90's ... and they really made me become the person that I am today ... good or bad ... I blame basketball for how I turned out today ... so Cheer to Jordan, Bulls, and Basketball! ...

I got this shot glass when I graduated from UCI ... June 2005 ... when I got this, I just wanted a souvenir to remember UCI days ... I never thought this will grow into 80+ shot glasses ... so here is to UCI, to the sleepless nights at the student center and Science Library, to SWE, to my awesome roommates and classmates who have become my life friends, to teaching me how to survive on cereal or making grill cheese sandwiches by combining some toasting and microwaving action ... and of course ... to Brad Williams ... my first boss at Disney, who I think hired me just because we were both UCI Alumnus ...

Synesthesia is also sometimes reported by individuals under the influence of psychedelic drugs, after a stroke, during a temporal lobe epilepsy seizure, or as a result of blindness or deafness. Synesthesia that arises from such non-genetic events is referred to as "adventitious synesthesia" to distinguish it from the more common congenital forms of synesthesia. Adventitious synesthesia involving drugs or stroke (but not blindness or deafness) apparently only involves sensory linkings such as sound → vision or touch → hearing; there are few, if any, reported cases involving culture-based, learned sets such as graphemes, lexemes, days of the week, or months of the year.

Although synesthesia was the topic of intensive scientific investigation in the late 19th century and early 20th century, it was largely abandoned by scientific research in the mid-20th century, and has only recently been rediscovered by modern researchers.Psychological research has demonstrated that synesthetic experiences can have measurable behavioral consequences, while functional neuroimaging studies have identified differences in patterns of brain activation.Many people with synesthesia use their experiences to aid in their creative process, and many non-synesthetes have attempted to create works of art that may capture what it is like to experience synesthesia. Psychologists and neuroscientists study synesthesia not only for its inherent interest, but also for the insights it may give into cognitive and perceptual processes that occur in synesthetes and non-synesthetes alike.

Cousin Ella: I dont know what is going on, but I am happy the kids weren't home, because I was cursing and yelling at the computer for half an hour yesterday!

Talin: I saw that you finally posted something ... that's a major progress ...

Cousin Ella: Yeah, that took me all day .... at one point I was so mad that I sent an email to facebook!

Talin: ... What? What do you mean? What did you say?

Cousin Ella: I said "I need a human being to contact me immediately, or else I am canceling my membership!"

Talin: ... Haha, what membership? Its free ... did they respond?

Cousin Ella: No, they probably printed my email and framed it at their customer service center and are laughing at me now! ... oh and I just got an iPhone yesterday ... how do I make a call with this? ...

I LOL-ed and then started the training session ... while thinking ... this whole personal and one on one training of technology can still be a great business idea ...

دوستی با بعضی آدم ها مثل نوشیدن چای کیسه ای

است، هول هولکی و دم دستی... این دوستی ها برای رفع تکلیف خوبند اما خستگی ات را

رفع نمی کنند... این چای خوردن ها دل آدم را باز نمی کند خاطره نمی شود فقط از سر

اجبار می خوریشان که چای خورده باشی و بعدش هم به آن فکر

نمیکنی...

دوستی با بعضی آدمها مثل خوردن چای خارجی است. پر از رنگ و بو. این

دوستی ها جان می دهد برای مهمان بازی، برای جوک های خنده دار تعریف کردن، برای

فرستادن اس ام اس های صد تا یک غاز!! برای خاطره های دمِ دستی... اولش هم حس خوبی

به تو می دهند... این چای زود دم خارجی را می ریزی در فنجان بزرگ... می نشینی با

شکلات فندقی می خوری و فکر میکنی خوشبحال ترین آدم روی زمینی... فقط نمی دانی چرا

باقی چای که مانده در فنجان بعد از یکی دوساعت می شود رنگ قیر یک مایع سیاه و بد بو

که چنان به دیواره فنجان رنگ می دهد که انگار در آن مرکب چین ریخته بودی ... نه

ها مثل نوشیدن چای سر گل لاهیجان است. باید نرم دم بکشد.... باید انتظارش را بکشی!! باید برای عطر و رنگش

منتظر بمانی باید صبر کنی!! آرام باشی و مقدماتش را فراهم کنی... باید آن را بریزی

در یک استکان کوچک کمر باریک... خوب نگاهش کنی... عطر ملایمش را احساس کنی و آهسته

جرعه جرعه بنوشی اش و زندگی کنی

It's the 3rd week of school ... Winter break seems like ages ago ... The joy and excitement of being back to school is over .... and I am starting to remember why I hate homework and group projects and everything educational!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..... Ok I'll stop nagging and go finish this homework .... blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
